Roses’ gastronomic speciality par excellence is suquet de peix (fish and shellfish soup-stew), the essence of this fishing town.

Roses' cultural wealth is also found at the table. As dynamic as the town, the local cuisine has experienced a series of changes and evolutions.
The town's traditional fishermen created a recipe based on a combination of fresh products. In coves or at home "Suquet" was cooked, a simple dish of freshly caught fish boiled with potatoes.
Over time, this homemade recipe has been enriched with the incorporation of typically Mediterranean products, giving rise to different versions of this dish.
The restaurants taking part in the "Suquet de Peix de Roses" campaign present various versions of this traditional fisherman's dish, as well as offering a wide range of wines from the EmpordĂ region.
This symbiosis of land and sea increases the added value of the Costa Brava, a divine place.
